A significant portion of WordPress CMS-based projects require the same elements and functionalities:

• editable menu in the header and footer,
• the ability to enable the menu to follow the user,
• the ability to insert text, images, videos, lists, galleries, etc.
• the ability to add a background for sections,
• change the layout, add and remove elements,
• add internal and external spaces between elements,
• add bold, italics, links in the content,
• change the HTML tag of a given text, e.g. from H2 to H3

In each project, specific elements will have their unique design, but their existence and operating principle will be largely constant. Berka WP has a database of such elements with ready-made support for content fields, so that developers do not have to add the same functionalities in each subsequent project.

When using ready-made templates, e.g. from ThemeForest, their development is often problematic, you have to overwrite the template options, which ultimately gives less than optimal code that translates into longer loading and a worse position in Google Search. We focus on the smallest possible number of options in the template, which then have to be overwritten, removed or created completely from scratch.

This allows the developer starting the project to focus on building, not cleaning. We have also created auxiliary functions that allow you to quickly add new blocks that immediately support basic ACF fields (e.g. with spaces).

We use a minimal amount of built-in Gutenberg options as they do not support responsive design principles.

Why did we base the template on the ACF PRO plugin?

ACF PRO is a solid, very stable plugin, which works smoothly and allows you to very quickly introduce new fields to WordPress. Thanks to it, you will very quickly implement new blocks, the code of which will be based on PHP, SCSS, JS. Natively, in Gutenberg you have to write blocks in React, which without a good knowledge of this technology and the operation of Gutenberg blocks, prevents quick implementation of new blocks or edition of older ones. The amount of code that is necessary to implement any functionality in React will be much greater than with implementations in PHP.

Of course – someone may say that Javascript is slower than PHP – yes, but with a properly implemented website, PHP performs much better and is easier to edit, extend and doesn’t generate additional problems with libraries and the inability to use plugins with popular shortcodes implementation.
